An Ethnographic study on disobedience of helmet laws and how design can fix this cultural issue.
This project was one of the results of my internship at Arteco design studio in Iran which is specialized in transportation design. The main target market for this project was young generation of motorbike riders in Tehran. The culture around younger bikers in southern parts of the city dictates a fearless attitude which results into taking extremely dangerous risks to do something very cool or fun and current design of helmets take away from that. This project was kicked off by a brief research on statistics of brain injuries due to motorbike accidents (not wearing a helmet).15 motorbike riders were recruited from streets of Tehran riding their bike without wearing a helmet to attend Design thinking sessions as well as co design workshops and concept testing.
